Professionally I trained as a nurse and midwife in London before coming to the East Midlands. Here I undertook health visitor training and was awarded the MAWS/HVA award for innovative work in Health visiting practice, publishing in Health Visitors and Groups-Politics and Practice 1988 ed. V. Drennan Heineman
After working on the Community Development and Health project (joint Health & Social care initiative) I joined the Training Department in Nottingham Community Unit, maintaining my clinical practice as a school nurse in the inner city.

Undertaking Major Review for the QAA I led on the quality assurance of Nursing, Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (HV & SN), Community Specialist Practice Nursing (PN & DN) programmes and was the specialist lead for learning resources in academic and practice settings.
In collaboration with higher education providers I have developed and commissioned innovative academic multidisciplinary education programmes in the East Midlands.

During my time in training and development I established a comprehensive service portfolio and NVQ Accreditation Centre.

Production of Child Health video training packages, parenting videos, CDRom multimedia/interactive resources means I have a wealth of knowledge on which to draw.

I have experience of providing clinical supervision and have had techniques published in Reflective Practice-writing and professional development 2000 ed. G. Bolton Sage.

Nationally I have been part of the UK Primary Care Nursing Research Network Supporting hospital nurses move to primary care 2006 and a member of DH working group on EC Directive 91/321:Infant Formula and follow on Formula Educational Resources

With over thirty years experience in working in the NHS much of my work has been primary care focussed. During this time I have had a range of clinical (nursing, midwifery health visiting and school nursing) management and development roles. I recognised that I had an interest in leading innovation and change and was enthused by the challenge of developing individuals, teams and services to deliver high quality care.

A strong theme running through my career was leading the development of training and learning resources and initiatives to motivate and facilitate health care staff to progress both personally and professionally
Working in the NHS I have experienced successive changes and understand their impact

In my spare time I am a governor at a grant maintained secondary school of 1,300 pupils, where I have a particular role in supporting the development of the PSHE curriculum and Healthy Schools initiative. I helped develop the first UK random drugs testing in schools policy and procedure

I completed my MA in Leading innovation and change at York University in 2007.

Whatever the size of project, I would be very happy to discuss it further without obligation, please email me using the contact form and we can arrange a telephone call.
